The Delta Waterfowl Foundation has been conserving many species of water birds since 1911. On Thursday August 9, 2012 members and supporters gathered at the Love Civic Center for the 10th Annual Lamar County Chapter Banquet Dinner. The festivities included live & silent auctions as well as Hi-Low card games and “Duck Pong”. 75% of the funds raised will go to conservation of the Northern Waterfowl, and 25% will stay in Lamar County for youth scholarships. A portion of the local funds will also go to Wood Duck Boxes at Pat Mayse Lake for nesting of our resident Wood Ducks. Everyone that attended enjoyed the drawing style auctions as the buckets filled up with tickets. A delicious meal from Crawford’s Hole in the Wall was served up while hundreds of generous people conversed about hunting in our area, favorite guns, and placed bids on the amazing custom Delta Waterfowl collectables. Among the Live Auction items were 25 tons of base rock, Yeti Plus Mystery Package, Blue Wing Tail Decoy, Browning Bird Package, Youth Gun Package, and more.
Several Local Business Owners and individuals sponsored tables for the evening including Glass Investments, Craig Burns (North Texas Fab.), Mark Nation, Reilly Treadway, Oklahome Group, J&L Paving, Lone Star AG Credit, WCR, Chris Early, Colonial Lodge, Paris Chevrolet, Lamar County Elections, Casey Johnson, Pools & More, Bill Oswalt, Highway 82 Wrecking, C&S Plumbing, and DC’s Towing.
The yearly Banquet raises much needed funds for the conservation of our waterfowl & continuation of instilling the spirit of hunting and conservation to our youth. Without sponsors like Shoot ‘em Up Archery, Big Town Farm Center, Atwoods, Tractor Supply Company, Swaim Hardware, Sam’s Club, Gifford’s Hardware, JB Thrasher, David’s Meat Market, Postal Options, InParisTexas.com, Miller Oil Lube & Tune, Cypress Home Care, Flying Aces Duck Calls & Guide Service, Ben E. Keith, Homers Quick Stop, Kent Krank Auctions, Reed’s Sporting Goods, Wildcat Hunting, The Paris News, Lone Star Gun Works, Fastenal, Four States Fencing Company , Arrow Industries, EParis, East Texas Broadcasting, Love Graphics, Clint Head, Anderson Candy Co., CJO Studio, Paris Vet Clinic, Blossom Hardware, Hole in the Wall, and Shopper’s Edge the event could not have been as successful.
“If you want to support an organization that is focused on these critical needs, Delta Waterfowl is for you. A commitment to improving duck production and fighting for duck hunters is the heart and soul of Delta’s mission. If you’re a waterfowl hunter, Delta needs you and you need Delta.”
We would like to thank the Lamar County Chapter of Delta Waterfowl for inviting us to attend and cover this annual event.
