Audition Notice for Paris Community Theatre’s Upcoming “Doubt”
Paris Community Theatre is always displaying the acting talents of local actors in classic and contemporary plays and musicals. The upcoming performance of “Doubt, A Parable by John Patrick Shanley is no exception. Auditions will be held August 12th and 13th at 7 p.m. The character of Mrs. Muller is still available. The role requires an African-American woman over the age of 25. Doubt is the Pulitzer Prize winning play by John Patrick Shanley. Set in 1964 at St. Nicholas Catholic School, it tells the story of a nun and priest who find themselves at odds over the radical changes in both the church and society. Mrs. Muller is the mother of the school’s first African American student, Donald. When the school’s principal, Sister Aloysius, suspects an improper relationship between the priest and Donald, she becomes determined to fix the problem no matter the cost.
This powerful story speaks to the doubt in all of us and stands as a testament to the love and faith of the human spirit. Mrs. Muller is an incredible role and will have a very flexible rehearsal schedule. The show runs October 3-6 and 10-13.
