Boys & Girls Club of Red River Valley Holds Johnny Stallings Memorial Great Paris Turtle Float
The Boys & Girls Club of Red River Valley is an amazing organization that lends a hand in guiding our youth with a positive outlook on a productive tomorrow. Since 1928 the doors have been opened to thousands of young people who have gone on to become successful adults and contributing members of our community. Every year the club holds an event that accounts for half of their yearly funds. The Johnny Stallings Memorial Great Paris Turtle Float brought people from all over the area in support of the much needed United Way Agency. Over 3,600 turtles were adopted by local businesses and individuals at $10 each and sold out to set an all-time record. Chairman Russell Jackson said “It is amazing how generous the community has been this year and we thank everyone involved”. Win or lose, participants stepped up to help a positive place for our youth. The turtles were set free around noon on 7-27-13 while supporters gathered to witness the race. The checkered flag was waved and they were off! The first three were snatched up at the finish line and we had our winners. Ten turtles were also chosen at random as “quick picks” for $50…
1st – Juan Cervantes $3,000
2nd – Terry Christian $2,000
3rd – Eddie Clement $1,000
