The Depot in Paris, Texas has been keeping the music alive! Every Tuesday night everyone is invited to Tuesday Night Tune Trades “A good ol’ fashioned song swap every Tuesday at The Depot hosted by Cody Phifer”. We decided to check out the latest addition to the Depot’s entertainment.
Host Cody Phifer jumped up on stage to kick the swap off and performed a handful of familiar tunes like “American Girl” by Tom Petty. His original pieces shed light on his writing ability and the reason he is the host. After Cody riled everyone up, he called on local soloist Max Jones. Proud to be a Parisian, Max brought his unique happy energy to the crowd. Out of the many tunes he jammed our favorite of the night was a new original song called “Drop a Dime”. Feeling the music and itching to grab the 6-string, I had to play a couple. I hadn’t performed solo in quite some time so with butterflies in my belly, I sang a couple of originals from my band Silent Coup. Even though I was a little rusty, the crowd was supportive and seemed to enjoy the mix of music. Justin Cashion of Pearl Street Riot and Chris Vanderburg followed me and kept the night of melody going.
