Dirty Pesos Sweep the Dance Floor
Friday night in Paris, Texas was full of entertainment and Crosswire has been putting the spotlight on live music. This weekend the Dirty Pesos made their way back to Texas for a honkytonk homecoming! The fun friendly four piece band, plugged in for night of good times and Texas tunes. With music in the air and the mechanical bull going full throttle, the club was electrified. The band’s 3 part set included familiar songs like “Diggin Up Bones” by Randy Travis, and our favorite cover “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On” by Mel McDaniel. When it comes to original material, Dirty Pesos bring the southern fried charm to the studio. Their self-titled 6 track EP includes their first released single called “Whisky Angel” and current hit on Paris Live Open Mic and 104.3 the River “Favorite Beer”. Formed less than a year and a half ago, these guys have already been taking steps for a new album slated for release in 2014 entitled “Big Diesel”.According to their BIO…”Dirty Pesos are not a band put together by a record label. They are not some guys that answered ads for musicians in the local paper. They are a band of desperados who have known each other for years, and have torn up the road and stages, both together and separately. Their tenure in these parts is a virtual Texas Music history lesson, as they’ve all played at various times with some of the top artists from the north Texas region. The resonant baritone voice of Tom McElvain, a singer’s singer, the six-string blitzkrieg precision of lead guitarist Mark Lafon, the thunderous, unbridled battery of Scott “Cowboy” Lytle’s drums locked in with Brad King’s solid bass lines…everything is in place. These hombres make for one of the most seasoned and professional outfits to grace the region’s landscape in quite some time. They cut their teeth the hard and honest way. Bumps, cuts, and bruises and all are but mere medals of honor for these compadres. Sometimes the fates do us a favor…like this time. Four ornery ol’ boys have aligned, like the planets. Earthquakes may result. Don’t stand on a rooftop and watch. Get down there where the ground is shaking and experience The Dirty Pesos.”
We were blown away by the band’s performance and can’t wait to have them back in Paris, Texas again soon!
