His enthusiasm for our city, along with his respect for the pro-active city council was readily apparent to all who attended the meeting. Dr. Hashmi reviewed some of the successes the city council of Paris has had over the past year and a half. As well as beautification of our city, which includes the trees around the loop, the removal of dilapidated buildings, along with the sell of said properties, and returning the properties to the tax rolls. The highlight of the meeting was the discussion of the bond issue to replace the water and sewer lines of our city. He was asked if the replacement of the W/S lines was necessary, which he yes, and was also asked if the city could afford it without raising rates or taxes, to which he replied yes; and will the replacement be accomplished in a professional and cost effective manner, which the answer was also yes. Dr. Hashmi’s passion and compassion for our city and its residents was very evident in his presentation.
