Eagles Lodge Fundraiser For Red River Valley Veterans Memorial with BBQ & Music

This Article Brought To You By:

The Eagles Lodge in Paris, Texas is all about people helping people. On October 21st, 2012 everyone gathered for an evening of fun, food, friends, and live entertainment for a good cause! Supporting the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial fund, this BBQ & Music Festival was presented by East Texas Broadcasting, hosted by Oliver C. Mowat, and sponsored by many caring local businesses and individuals.

The first group of musicians headed up by Carl Cullum, Tom McCullar, & Oliver Mowat rocked out to songs like “Brown Eyed Girl” Van Morrison, “Everything That Glitters”, by Dan Seals, and “Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine” by Kentucky Headhunters.

Next up was the true Texas troubadour, Shaun Michaels. This guy can draw you in to his melody and take you to a time when music meant something. Familiar songs like “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash and “Good Ol Boys” by Don Williams spark nostalgia. His talent really shines through his original tunes including “Not Disappearing” and current hit on Paris Live Open Mic entitled “Ain’t Far Down”.

The party was in full effect as a 50/50 drawing was held along with several raffles for donated items took place. Everyone was ready for ELVIS to take the stage!

Gary “Elvis” Weaver is a hardcore Elvis Presley fan and impersonator. He has been performing most of his 75 year old life and loves what he does. Decked out in his rhinestones and sequined jumpsuit, Gary put on a phenomenal show. Singing many of the greats like “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and even a beautiful duet with his daughter Lisa Shew called “Suspicious Minds” Gary “ELVIS” Weaver had the crowd dancing right along.

It was a day full of generosity and support for the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial.  Board Members Don Wall, Doug Weiberg, Don McCaskill, Gene Ray, and Erin Gilbert were on hand to accept the $1,381 raised at the event. With smiles all around the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial Music Festival and Barbecue was a success!
