Elks Lodge Shows Support for Sue Melton

Sue Melton is a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. Sue was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s follicular Lymphoma in February 2011. She immediately started chemo and continued treatment for 10 months. Although chemo helped, she still needed to have a bone marrow transplant. She was extremely blessed to find a 100% perfect match from an unrelated donor. In April 2012 she underwent the transplant. In July scans showed no active cancer, she had yet again been blessed her transplant worked! Currently she is still recovering from the transplant, and has had some complications along the way.
On Sunday October 7, 2012 friends, family, and loved ones gathered at the Elks Lodge in Paris, Texas in an effort to raise much needed funds for her expenses. Live music was provided by Old Miller Sideshow, Trever Carico, Blue Suitcase, Alex Addy & the Tambourine Machine, Gentle Giants, and Stone Rosevelt. Many local individuals and businesses donated items for live and silent auctions. Bounce houses were set up for the kiddos while several raffles were held along with bake sales and colored hair extensions were sold by Chic Hair Studio.
It is hardships like this that pull us together as a community, and if hardships this should ever fall on any one of us, we would gather again to shine a light in the dark.
