Friday, October 21st, 2011, First Baptist Church in downtown Paris hosted the kick-off event of this years Mom’s of Preschoolers group, better known as MOPS. MOPS is a community of moms who enjoy sharing experiences, fellowship, and fun, providing “quality mothering resources” to local moms in Paris. For the event, MOPS member prepared a delicious brunch, featuring delicious local baked goods and snacks for the kids. Moms gathered in the atrium of First Baptist for a meet and greet while the children had a meet and greet of their own in the playrooms. Back in the atrium, moms started the meeting with a brief introduction, prayer, and devotional, which was followed by a short testimony from one of the MOPS members and brief video about the MOPS program. Angela Cunningham and Alexia Riggs, MOPS’ co-coordinators, also introduced this year’s MOPS theme: MomSense. The MOPS newsletter further states:
MomSense: Bold, Loving, Sensible- equips moms to embrace their mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating through the myriad of daily mom decisions.
Developing a mothering strategy is somewhat like playing a game– and this year’s theme is appropriately game related. Have fun being a mom. Playing games involves being bold and taking risks, loving those in the game with us, and being sensible while figuring out hat works and what doesn’t.
