Healthy Tasty Snacks
Now that it is almost summertime, you may be wondering what kind of homemade sweet snacks you can make for your kids or grandkids. Mandy has compiled a delicious variety of healthy but tasty goodies for you to try!
Seriously delicious (and healthy) Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup raw honey (Make sure child is at least 1 year of age)
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 egg
1 cup oats
1/2 cup granola
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup raisins
1/4 milled flax seed
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients, except oats, granola flour, flax, and raisins. Then stir in oats, granola, flour, flax, and raisins. Drop teaspoonfuls of batter onto a cookie sheet. Cook 7-10 minutes, or until light brown.
Peanut Butter Protein-Packed Balls
Ingredients:
1/2 cup honey (Make sure child is at least 1 year of age)
2/3 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup chocolate flavored kid protein powder
3 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
Mix honey, peanut butter, and protein powder together thoroughly. Slowly add rice cereal and stir until mixed. Roll mixture into balls and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
Banana Slices
Ingredients:
banana
peanut butter
milled flax seed
Slice bananas and spread natural peanut or almond butter on each slice. Sprinkle with milled flax seed.
Banana Ice Cream
Ingredients:
1 banana
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Freeze a banana and then combine it with 2 tbsp cocoa powder. Blend until smooth & creamy.
Easy Energy Balls
This recipe yields 20 balls:
Ingredients:
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla
Mix ingredients thoroughly. Chill for 30 minutes. Roll into balls.
