The Paris music scene is buzzed about the performance from Jeremy Phifer & company. On February 2nd, 2013 The Depot was packed with fans from all over, anxious for the slated musical firestorm. Justin Rosson warmed up the crowd with familiar tunes like “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Black” by Pearl Jam. He also introduced an original piece entitled “Addiction”. Justin Rosson is a Parisian favorite. His approach to music and powerful vocals are reminiscent of bands like “Seven Mary Three” and “Days of the New”. His set was the perfect prelude to the evening’s electrified headliner.
Jeremy Phifer has been snatching up fans at every town he blows through. Recently adding a few fresh faces to the former “The Texas Badwater Band”, the east Texas troubadour was backed by the best. New guitarist Dalton Greer held the acoustic melody while Trey Wolf locked everyone in behind the drums. Carson Rast melted the fiddle and new bassist Clint Testerman rumbled on the low end. Jeremy Phifer has countless musical influences especially his pedal steel player & father Jerry Phifer. These six guys seemed to read each other’s minds delivering a flawless set. If you haven’t seen Mr. Phifer’s rendition of “Purple Rain”, you are missing out. Walking into the audience shredding on lead, then stepping up onto the in bar mid-solo, Jeremy Phifer owned everyone’s attention. When it comes to original material, Phifer has derived numerous masterpieces. Songs like “Devil in Disguise”, and current hit on Paris Live Open Mic “Cigarettes & Gasoline” infuse that sought after western sound with a rock & roll attitude. Anytime Jeremy Phifer & the boys are on the bill, you are in for a heavy honky-tonk good time.
