Local Churches to Hold Purity Banquet in December

On December 10th, participating churches in the area will be holding a Purity Banquet at the Love Civic Center. A Purity Curriculum is currently being taught at these churches for the next 6-8 weeks, in the hopes that each church’s youth group will finish up with the lessons about the same time…just in time for the Purity Banquet. 7th-12th graders are encouraged to attend, with the admission cost of $20 per person. Included in the ticket cost is a purity ring for each teen, a family photo, and a catered meal by Hole-in-the-Wall Café.

According to Bryan Mackey, the response for the banquet has been “well-received.” And there is room for more. The deadline for churches to get involved was originally October 1st, but event organizer Bryan Mackey is willing to see how many more churches take part in this process and the banquet itself. Bryan told us that the “Lord gave me the idea six months ago. It started just with our church, but I wanted it to be bigger than other teen activities in town. I wanted it to be a significant event.”

“Every Young Man’s Battle” authors Fred Stoeker and Stephen Arterburn will be serving as the special speaker of the evening, which is slated to start around 6 and finish sometime after 8. All attendees are encouraged to dress similar to what they would wear to a wedding, while the initial goal was for the teenagers to dress as though they were going to Prom.
