Local Martial Arts Athletes Receive 106 Trophies At Texas Open National Championships

On August 17th and 18th, 33 local athletes from Watkins Family Martial Arts Academy located off the northeast loop competed in the largest martial arts/sports/fitness event in the United States, the Texas Open National Martial Arts Championships held at the Europa Sports Expo in Dallas, TX at the Dallas Convention Center. With over 65,000 in attendance, this expo shattered all previous records for any event of its kind in the United States.
Even though the crowd noise was deafening, and the venue was ominous, the competition was fierce, your friends and neighbors made Paris proud! Bringing home a staggering 106 trophies, most of which were 1st places, these students are truly some of the best in the country! They worked tirelessly, some 3-4 hours per day, preparing for this event. Their hard work defiantly paid off! Paris should be proud of these students and their endeavors. Participants were: Leah Maxson, Jessica Roberts, Bill Criswell, Jimmy Ellison, Erin Wright, Alex Ellison, Karl Puckett, Danny Harrimon, Tyler Harrimon, Kendel Cass, Caleb Young, Andrew Peters, Lydia Peters, William Peters, Ethan Peters, Hunter Adams, Kayden Yates, Dylan McGuire, Tristan McGuire, Westin Wible, Jennifer Jackson, Lily Gibson, Carl Ray Williams, Kaci Bates, Muchien Hang, Chelsea Savage, Payton Buck, Justin Mitchell, Makayla Allee, Nathaniel Achord, Kelleigh Holmes, Nathaniel Spinks, Instructor Clayton Watkins. Their next event is the AKA Grand Nationals in Chicago, IL at the end of January and will be raising funds to attend.
