7th Annual Celebration of Friends
Friends, that is the word that was heard by me everywhere I went to take photos during the 7th annual Celebration Of Friends Luncheon. The event was held at Celebrate It at 4195 Pine Mill Road on April 21, 2012. Each person was able to decorate their own table and invite their friends and family to dine together and celebrate friends. Each lady at the event was dressed with the extravagance that befits a lady and the atmosphere was one of mutual respect and smiles. I was greeted warmly by those in attendance and even though I am a male, I was made to feel right at home. I loved hearing the stories of how the event got started and why they meet yearly. This all started out as a tea party for friends, and after a couple of years it became apparent that not enough people actually enjoyed tea to continue that tradition. The event was coordinated by Carolyn Lockett, Vanessa Preston, and Deborah Reese. When the speaker gave the purpose statement for this year’s lunch she said. “I asked one of the ladies who will remain unmentioned. What three words would you use to describe this event? She responded to me; Sacrifice, Unity, and Love. Sacrifice for the heavy boxes, table set ups, decorations, and everything else that goes into putting this all together. Through this sacrifice comes unity from the smiles, laughter, and conversation. From this unity comes love as we get to know one another and continue to be friends throughout the year.” This statement sums up this event very well, from my perspective, with all of the events that happen in Paris, Texas each year. This hidden gem is one that if you get an invite you do not want to miss out on. Thank you to the ladies for the warm reception and for giving me a taste of local talent and beauty.
