Paris Blues Society Red River Ranch Saloon Paris Tx December 20 2012With the stockings hung and the lights strung, the Paris Blues Society shined a beacon of blue aimed at the Red River Saloon on Thursday, December 20th. The Blue Christmas Jam was a celebration of music and friends. Blue Beer, Blue Shots, and Blue Lagoons were passed around as several of the best musicians in our area plugged in for a night of the blues. A special presentation from Paris Live Open Mic kicked off the event as we recognized the PBS for everything that they do for our aspiring musicians. Super Dave along with myself awarded the group an original abstract piano painting designed by local artist Jeremy Robinson as a token of our appreciation. The Paris Blues Society is the only non-profit organization in the area that helps in furthering the education of young musical talent. & PLOM have been on the pulse of our scene for a long time. In that time we have witnessed the enormous amount of talent that spills out of Paris, Texas. On the top of the pile is an individual that has been the drive behind multiple bands including “Blackland”, “The Billion Dollar Blues Band”, and “Gene Watson”. When it comes to the low end, Bassist Staley Rogers has mastered his instrument. Off stage Staley is one of the kindest people you will ever meet and for that we also presented him with a Jeremy Robinson original bass guitar painting. Chris Lancaster, Chad Altenbaumer, Staley Rogers, Bert Hussey, Paul Denny, Bill Allen, and many more jammed the night of blues away with songs like “24 hours”, “Boogieman”, and our favorite “Fried Chicken & Women”. The Red River Saloon’s comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff helped to make the Blue Christmas Jam a gathering to remember.
