The Petco Foundation is a non-profit organization that started in 1999 and has given over $100 million dollars to assist companion animal’s charities. To celebrate the $100 million mark, Petco started a contest where local store associates were asked to write essays on why their adoption partners meant so much to them. The Paris, Texas Petco associates submitted essays and won the Lamar County Humane Association a $1000 grant and a chance to be one of ten organizations that would win the $10,000 dollar award. Over 100 groups were in the Facebook contest and 220,000 visitors cast over 58 thousand votes. The Lamar County Humane Association was one of the 10 winners presented a check for $10,000. InParisTexas.com would like to congratulate the hard workers of both Petco and the Lamar County Humane Association on their win, and look forward to seeing the money put to awesome works for our local animal companions.
