Looking for an antique piece of furniture, a new toy for your little one, or even a full sized stuffed caribou? The Priest’s Emporium has it all and then some! When most see the downtown sign for the Priest’s Emporium, it draws attention, and the name of the store is just as interesting as the things inside it.
Chance Priest, the owner, bought the store two and a half years ago, buying collectibles and reselling them to the public. Although some would consider the Emporium as an antique store, Chance does not. He says it’s an Emporium – he has a little bit of everything, not just antiques. When people come in to sell their collectibles or items they no longer want/need, Chance pays cash and finds good homes for them.
As you walk around to look at all the interesting items, be mindful of the signs. Even though some are humorous, they are there for a reason. Make sure you don’t touch certain items as they may be expensive or an antique. Make sure you ask if you just have to feel something!
Chance sells comic books, toys, movie memorabilia, African animals, china, furniture, and so much more. He even specializes in coins, knives, and bizarre, unusual, and vintage objects. There is something for everyone in the Emporium. Kids, women, and men could all potentially walk out with something that they would enjoy. Some interesting items that Chance has at the moment are a signed football from Troy Aikman, a ’62 Hank Aaron baseball card, a Yamaha drum set, Planet of the Ape collectible figures, Star Wars collectible items, and china.
Older items such as a 1949 television set, an antique typewriter, a 1968 Coke-a-Cola machine that works, an Egg-Lane Fred Flintstone game, books from the 1940s, and all sorts of vintage furniture are also available. If you’re interested (or your kids) in toys, the Emporium has metal tricycles that are hard to find, dinosaurs, Sesame Street characters, Disney play sets, and action figures galore.
The Emporium even has a layaway plan. If your item is worth less than $100, you have 30 days to pay it off. If it’s over $100, you have 60 days. If it is a larger priced item, you’ll have a little more time. In addition, if a customer has something to sell, Chance will buy it and put it on the floor for customers. But if the original owner wants to buy it back off of the floor, they may do so at the price listed, but one better not wait too long or they may not find their original item as many people visit the store. Items change throughout the Emporium frequently so even if you have been in recently, you are sure to find something new and often. You may even want to call Chance if you are looking for something specific. The Emporium’s number is 903-785-0872.
Many customers that sell their items want to purchase something else like the latest gadget but one man’s junk is another man’s treasure at the Priest’s Emporium!
