Mexican Tortilla Bake

Mexican type casserole; good for the whole family
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground beef, salted
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ lb. cheese, grates (2 cups)
  • 1½ cup water
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 cans tomato sauce or salsa
  • 6 to 9 corn tortillas
  • 1 medium onion
  • black olives (optional)

Instructions
  1. Brown meat and drain.
  2. Add water, salt, onion, sauces, and spices; simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Spread sour cream on tortillas. Make 3 layers: with tortillas (sour cream side up), meat, then cheese.
  4. Repeat this layer twice more in 9 x 9-inch pan or 2-quart baking dish.
  5. Bake at 350 ° for 20 minutes or until cheese melts.
