Rent-A-Center (formerly Colortyme) & Paris Live Open Mic Come Together for Testicular Cancer
As No-Shave November in support of male cancer awareness comes to and end, and we trim our whiskers for Thanksgiving, one young man gets a surprise as Rent-A- Center (formerly Colortyme) of Paris & Paris Live Open Mic arrives with a comforting gift. Chris Allred of Paris was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 20. After his first surgery to have the tumor removed, he had thought it was finally gone only to have a recent follow up at 22yrs old to find that another tumor had formed. Paris Regional Medical Center has been a blessing to this young man in his treatment this past weekend. Our team noticed that his mother Sarah Allred was posting on Facebook asking for anyone to donate a used chair for him to aid in his recovery from surgery. The Paris Live Open Mic crew knew exactly who to call as The Vickers family are pillars of the community and would jump at the chance to help. All it took was a phone call and on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013, The truck was loaded up with a brand new recliner and delivered to Chris’s home. The look on his & his mother’s face was priceless as they nearly broke down in tears.
KXII Correspondent Matthew Boyd was on scene during the delivery to show support for the cause. Tune in to local channel 12 tonight at 6 & 10pm to get the full interview! We were proud to show support to this wonderful young man and hope his recovery goes well. Thanks to Rent-A-Center (formerly Colortyme) of Paris and their amazing staff for stepping up with this charitable get well soon gift.
In the spirit of giving and gratefulness …
