Tinsel & Tidings Kicks Off Holiday Season November 19th

The YWCA Paris and Lamar County is kicking off the holiday season in a big way with the 24th Annual Tinsel and Tidings, Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at the Love Civic Center from 9am until 4pm.

Tinsel and Tidings, a holiday arts and crafts bazaar, is one of two annual fundraisers for the YWCA Paris and Lamar County. By bringing together an eclectic array of vendors from near and far, Tinsel and Tidings offers the estimated 6,000- 10,000 annual visitors holiday shopping and entertainment on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year. With the inclusion of the annual Senior Citizen’s Bazaar and children’s attraction including pony rides and photos with Santa for just $5, the upcoming Tinsel and Tidings looks to be a phenomenal success.

2011 brings us more vendors than ever before at Tinsel and Tidings! More than 80 indoor vendors and who even knows how many vendors we’ll end up with outside under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower since many of the outdoor vendors wait until the day before or morning of to see what the weather will do… which, by the way, is suppose to be gorgeous! Vendors include home décor, holiday décor, jewelry, candles, and floral arrangements; as well as unique gifts items, original art, photography and sculptures from local artists, stained glass, quilts, candies and custom wood and leather goods. Visitors will find gifts for family and friends as well as lots of unique children and baby gifts as well as holiday decorations for the home.

Tinsel and Tidings has always offered a full day of fun to shoppers; this year we have a great selection of concessionaires offering a wide variety of food and drinks for everyone. It’s an ideal time of year to come out with your whole family and get into the spirit of the holidays by spending an afternoon with your community, your friends and neighbors; sharing a laugh, drinking hot chocolate or a homemade lemonade and listen to holiday tunes; maybe let the kids whisper in Santa’s ear and have their picture made while you browse all of the unique gifts offered by vendors from all over Texas and Louisiana, Oklahoma and even Arkansas We’re hoping for a good turn out.

The revenues from booth sales, photos with Santa and the annual raffle sales all benefit the YWCA Paris and Lamar County. The YWCA Paris and Lamar County is celebrating its 43rd year in Paris, Texas in 2011; forty three years of providing classes, programs and services that benefit the women of Paris and Lamar County as well as their families by encouraging self improvement, equality, civic-mindedness, and self reliance. The YWCA KEYS Program, offering intensive employment and life skills training is expanding in 2012 to provide services to at risk youth aged 15-20.
