Red Dirt on the Road Part II – Dustin Perkins at Buffalo Joe’s Pub

It was a cool night and one well suited to the sounds of live music. Not one to be put off by superstitious dates, Dustin Perkins took the stage at Buffalo Joe’s Pub in Paris, Texas Friday the 13th, 2011 with gusto. Playing to a crowd of fans and newcomers to his music alike, the Dustin Perkins Band put on a show with true Red Dirt attitude. Playing music influenced by the aforementioned Red Dirt movement, the mix of country sounds and rock n’ roll attitude went over well with the crowd.

Perkins and his band are true performers, able to rock a crowd with natural ability not often seen among local or regional artists. The band members, despite being together for a little over a year, worked together like they’d been playing together for a lifetime. The Paris crowd gave the band a warm welcome and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the show. Comments about the show were overheard in passing, with such exclamations as, “Amazing band,” and “This rocks,” being commonplace. Pictures were taken, beverages enjoyed, and the crowd wowed over the course of the evening.

A native of Bealls, TX, as we say in Texas, “Just up the road a way,” Perkins was more than willing to give us an interview, and can be seen on our site. Despite other star power in the area for the night such as Aaron Watson playing at Crosswire, plenty of willing listeners were on hand at Buffalo Joe’s, and hopefully with the release of their new album this summer The Next Step, they’ll garner even more fame. Amazing performers and genuinely nice guys, this band is one to follow.

Their upcoming tour stops include Howe, Bonham, and Fort Worth over the next week, so they will obviously be busy. If you missed them, they are definitely a must-watch, and as a bonus, you can download the first single off The Next Step from their website, http://www.dustinperkinsband.com/. The song “Luckiest Man Alive,” is a great intro to their music.
